Mrs. Tobey received her B.A. in psychology in 1990 from CSUN and her M.S.W. from UCLA in 1992. Prior to graduating from UCLA, Mrs. Tobey was required to complete two intensely supervised internships. Her first year internship was with Hillsides Home for Children in Pasadena, CA. There she provided individual and family therapy to foster, abused, and neglected children and their famlies. Mrs. Tobey's second year internship was with UCLA Medical Center's oncology clinic providing crisis counseling and case management services to cancer patients and their families.
Upon graduating, Mrs. Tobey began her clinical career working at the Valley Child Guidance Center in Palmdale, CA. There she provided therapy to foster, adopted, abused, and neglected children and their families. In 1994, she relocated to Ventura County and worked for Ventura County Behavioral Health at the adult outpatient clinic in Simi Valley, C.A. There she provided therapy to adults ages 18-55 within a multidisciplinary team consisting of a psychiatrist, clinical social workers, psychologists, and a marriage family therapist. Mrs. Tobey treated the following conditions: Major Depression, Bipolar Disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, and Panic Disorder. In 1998, after working for Ventura County Behavioral Health for four years, she began her private practice.
In order to keep her license current, Mrs. Tobey completes 36 hours of continuing education every two years. This is accomplished by attending workshops, conferences, seminars, and completing online courses that address the most current advances in research and treatment of various mental health conditions. In addition to the 36 hours mentioned, Mrs. Tobey must complete an additional four hours to maintain her board certification. |
