Mrs. Tobey utilizes a combination of the following therapies in her work with clients:

Psychodynamic therapy This therapy is also known as insight -oriented therapy and focuses on unconscious and subconscious processes and how they manifest themselves in one's present behavior.  The goal of this therapy is to increase awareness and understanding of past influences in order to make meaningful and healthy changes in present behavior.

Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) Cognitive-behavioral therapy is based on the idea that our thoughts cause our feelings and behaviors.  Thus, just by changing the way we think and act, can have a positive impact on the way we feel.

Interpersonal therapy Interpersonal therapy focuses on one's current interpersonal relationships.  People often bring unresolved issues from past relationships to their present ones which can then adversely affect current mood and behavior.   The goal of this therapy is to improve communication patterns  and one's ability to  relate to others in a healthier fashion.
